Christmas Cookies and Book Pairings – Day 6

Day 6 – City of the Lost by Kelley Armstrong

City of the Lost (Casey Duncan, #1)Buttercream-Filled Maple Sandwich Cookies

I love a secret city/hidden society story. Set it in the the Canadian winter wilderness, and there’s no way I’m not going to pick that up. This is the first book in the Rockton book series. It follows Casey, a homicide detective with a really big secret — back in college,  she killed a man. Afraid the crime will eventually catch up with her, she seizes the opportunity to disappear to a secret society up north with a friend who believes her abusive ex is trying to kill her. Learning to live off the grid and in the cold is challenging enough, but throw in a rag tag group of people all looking to disappear for their own unspoken reasons, and you get the perfect recipe for a chilling murder mystery.
