Here it is folks… it’s officially Halloween (the best day of the year) and I have one last pairing for you…
Day 31 – Pumpkinheads by Rainbow Rowell and Faith Erin Hicks
I can’t recommend this graphic novel enough. It’s nice and thick, but still easy enough to get through in an hour. The illustrations are gorgeous and fully immerse you in the autumn season. The characters are diverse and interesting, and the story is so much fun. Deja and Josiah have the coolest job in the world, a giant pumpkin patch that is really just acres and acres of treats and rides. But it’s their last day (Halloween), and they’re going to make it special. Follow them through the maze of themed posts as they hunt for Josiah’s crush, a fellow employee he’s never been brave enough to talk to… until now.
This is so different from anything I’ve read, and I loved it. Points for such diverse representation, including body types, races, and sexualities. It stole my heart!

This series of posts was fantastic (I just went and binge-read a bunch of your others for it that I missed earlier), and I’m kind of sad it’s over! Any chance you’ll do more food/book pairing posts in the future?

Aww, I’m so glad you liked it! 🙂 It was a surprising amount of work so I have no future plans to do another one at this point. Maybe a smaller version, like for 1 week leading up to another holiday. We’ll see. I’ll definitely keep it in mind!
