Crochet – Mini Pumpkin Patch

Every October, I buy multiple bags of tiny pumpkins from the grocery store to decorate my house. It’s gorgeous, but it’s also food waste, because by the time November rolls around, they’re pretty rotted and molded and they go straight into the compost bin. So, this year, I thought I’d try something new. Crochet pumpkins.

I based my design off of Bella Coco’s pattern, which I found a video tutorial of on YouTube.

Basic Technique

1. Crochet a rectangle that is twice as many rows as it is chains, eg. Ch 20 stitches, Sc 40 rows (get a cute cat to help, if required) 
2. Sew the edges together and thread a long tail along one edge and cinch it closed (a technique often used to close up the top of a hat)
3. Stuff with toy stuffing, cotton balls or spare yarn
4. Poke tail through from the bottom and cinch top edge closed
5. Poke tail back through to bottom and tie off
6. For the stem, Ch 5 and sc one row, then sew it to the top of the pumpkin
7. Repeat until you have a whole patch, playing with ch length and number of rows to get various sizes 🙂
