Crochet – 2019 Reading Afghan

I love to read, cozy under an afghan or throw. And I love to crochet. So, it only makes sense to combine the two hobbies, right?

I am currently working my way through an afghan that I’ve designed to represent the books I’m reading in 2019. Here’s how it works:

  1. I looked around my living room and took note of all the colours present in it
  2. I took a look at my favourite book genres and created a colour coding system
  3. For each book I read (beginning in January), I choose the appropriate colours, and crochet a square
  4. As I go, I stitch them together, in order of how I read them

Nerdy, in the best way, right?

Here’s how it’s coming (it’s already about 6 ft wide!):

My cat seems to like it…

    1. Isn’t he?! haha Thank you 🙂 I had been trying to figure out exactly how to go about representing each book for a while, then I encountered someone with a colour coding system. I tweaked it, and voila!
