Book Tag – The Five Ws

Hi all! This is a tag I created for a little book-ish introspection. Enjoy and pass along 🙂

Who | Who is an author you’d love to have a one-on-one with?

John Lindqvist
John Ajvide Lindqvist – Goodreads Profile Pic

John A. Lindqvist – I’d want to try to get some insight into how his brain works, because his stories are so dark, with such a strong element of humanity/monstrosity. How his characters relate to the world fascinates me, so I’d want to see how he relates to the world.

What | What genre/style do you most often gravitate to?

Horror/Supernatural – I’m a sucker for a good monster metaphor and any imagery that is a bit gothic or noir-ish.

Where | Where do you prefer to read?

Not my actual couch

My couch. I have a great couch.

When | What time of day do you prefer to read?

book-491033_1280

Evening, after dinner. It’s a nice way to end a busy work day or start a relaxing night in.

Why | Why is your favourite book your favourite book?

Kindred is my favourite book because it uses a sci-fi element (time travel) to explore a really dark part of history (slavery) that I had otherwise only really experienced from a distance (history books, slave narratives, etc).

Bonus: How | How do you go about selecting what book you’ll read next?

Screenshot of my Goodreads To-Read

I’m not good about keeping up with my TBR (as you can see). I’m usually growing it, not shrinking it. What I read next depends on what I’m currently reading. Do I never want it to end, or will I need a serious breather from an aspect of it? Then, I’ll browse my extensive TBR list (highest-rated to lowest), book blogs and Goodreads recommendations until I find something that is either similar or in stark contrast.

***

Thanks for the read. I’ll tag a few people here, but as usual, no pressure! I hope if you do it, you enjoy it 🙂
